Content Researcher - Core Team

The Opportunity:
The Content Management Department is looking for bright, energetic morning people to provide quality content to Onvia’s growing client base of subscribers via the Onvia Guide product. The Content Researcher will contribute to the production of the Onvia Guide publication and have experience identifying product-specific content, capturing and fielding data elements and working toward a daily deadline. This position is based at Onvia’s Seattle headquarters.

The key to success in this position is being able to quickly understand source and procurement information. A self-critical eye for detail, inner drive, and willingness to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment are essential. The Content Researcher is a member of a team charged with improving the quality and accuracy of the Onvia Guide’s content. The position will be expected to develop a functional expertise as well as a general understanding of the functional areas of teammates.

Core Deliverables and Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule with daily deadline
  • Review and capture procurement information daily from hundreds of assigned state and local agency Internet and hard-copy sources
  • Understand procurement process, industry categories and how assigned sources relate to one another
  • Effectively communicate status of assigned area of research to Team Lead and Supervisor
  • Meet daily, monthly and yearly personal and team goals set by Team Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:
The Content Researcher needs to have successfully demonstrated and/or completed the following:

  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to self-motivate, have a strong work ethic and full commitment to producing a market-leading product
  • Demonstrated ability to provide accurate, timely reports as needed by management
  • Experience using Microsoft Office desktop tool
  • Knowledge of internet search techniques
  • Strong teamwork skills, proven self-motivation and passion for their profession
  • An inquisitive disposition and the desire to understand the big picture is encouraged

Education/Certifications/Training:

  • BA degree in English or Journalism and/or equivalent experience preferred

Performance Objectives:

  • Satisfactorily complete initial three-week training
  • Successfully review all sources in region within 30 days of hire
  • Find, enter and classify a minimum of 100 leads per day with a minimum classification rate of 88% within 90 days of hire
  • Have a macro and micro understanding of functional area within 90 days of hire
