Closing the Chapter on Recovery.org

In February 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), commonly referred to as the Recovery Act, was signed into law. Since then, this unprecedented $787 billion in tax benefits, entitlements and funding for projects has slowly but surely made its way from the Beltway to the states and finally to the local level.

To monitor the pace of the $275 billion in ARRA project spending and the contracts it funded, Onvia developed Recovery.org, which tapped into Onvia's industry-leading core product, the Onvia Online Database, to bring unprecedented levels of transparency and accountability to recovery spending.

Recovery.org let its users track these funds to see how and where recovery dollars are spent, and it allowed them to vote whether a project is worthwhile or wasteful and to post their comments.

Now that media and consumer interest in Recovery Act spending is waning, Onvia has decided to take Recovery.org offline.

However, if you subscribe to the Online Database, you can still track all remaining ARRA contracts through to the award stage, as we will continue to tag Recovery Act projects for identification at every stage of the procurement process.
