When and where: May 7-11, Philadelphia, PA

What it’s about: Lightfair bills itself as "The world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference." This year’s edition of the show hosts forums on the latest technology advances in the industry, such as smart lighting and IoT (Internet of Things) integration.

West Coast Energy Management Congress

West Coast Energy Management Congress

When and where: June 7-8, Long Beach, CA

What it’s about: This West Coast event, now in its 35th year, is specifically designed for business, industrial and institutional energy users, and hosts specific tracks of discussions like High Performance & Green Buildings, Trends in Energy Efficiency and Advanced Technologies & Renewable Energy.

ACE 17 (American Water Works Association)

When and where: June 11-14, Philadelphia, PA

What it’s about: ACE, hosted by the American Water Works Association, is "A great conference and exhibition for leaders in the water industry," said Onvia Onvia Water and Wastewater Industry Specialist Curtis Kingrey. "Attendees can network and learn about the latest water technologies and trends, with an emphasis on potable water."

Water professionals get together every year at this show to find solutions to the complex challenges in the water industry.

Solar Power International

When and where: September 10-13, Las Vegas, NV

What it’s about: The largest of the solar energy conferences on the continent, Solar Power International is co-hosted with a forum specifically for energy storage companies.

The event is co-hosted by the Solar Energy Industries Association and the Smart Electric Power Alliance:

World Energy Engineering Congress

When and where: September 27-29, Atlanta, GA

What it’s about: : For businesses looking for the big picture of energy technologies and trends, and seeking the market knowledge they need to compete for more energy bids and RFPs, there’s no better event each year than the World Energy Engineering Congress. President George W. Bush will be giving the keynote speech at this year’s conference.

WEFTEC (The Water Quality Event)

When and where: September 30 – October 4, Chicago, IL

What it’s about:  “WEFTEC is where water quality professionals from around the world gather to see the latest cutting-edge technologies in the field - with a specific focus on wastewater,” Kingrey says. “The largest water quality exhibition in the world, this is a great place to meet with industry experts and network with peers.”

Power-Gen International

When and where: December 5-7, Las Vegas, NV

What it’s about: With more than 20,000 attendees each year, Power-Gen provides “comprehensive coverage of the trends, technologies and issues facing the generation sector.”
